Madeline grew up in Wolverhampton. Her first car was a green Hillman Minx and she even successfully passed her test first time!
Madeline met her first husband in the queue for Humpsford Littleton, on Oxford Street, which was a popular jazz club at the time in the 50’s. Madeline met her second husband after he came to fix her phone. However, husband number two was ‘the end of the husband list’ for Madeline! She also had a part time job at school, tidying up in a shop, which she recalled as being extremely boring.
After school ended, Madeline attended teacher training college, and went on to be an early years teacher for 40 years. Her first teaching job was in Billeston. However, after she got married to her first husband, at 22, she moved to a new teaching post in North West London, in Hendon. During her married life Madeline has had 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy) and has five grandchildren.
